Clinical Hypnotherapy & Hypnoanalysis

Jonny Wootton has been a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and hypnoanalyst for almost two decades.

Initially training with Cambridge’s Hypnotherapy Control Board (now International Association of Evidence Based Psychotherapists) Jonny has successfully worked with a plethora of clients with a multitude of problems, ranging from Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy to the most complex of phobias.

Jonny’s special areas of expertise include his stop smoking hypnotherapy programme (he is advanced trained in this area) and also anxiety related problems.

Although there are many hypnotherapists in Wakefield, Leeds and West Yorkshire, Jonny is in a select group of two that are highly trained in hypnoanalysis, a unique therapy at finding and removing the root cause of a problem.

As a university-trained teacher, Jonny also runs a stop vaping programme, aimed at school children

Stop Smoking with Hypnosis

Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy in just 1 HOUR:

Yes, just ONE HOUR to new you!

Jonny Wootton has used this same programme to stop in excess of 200 people from Smoking or Vaping.

Advanced trained by world-renowned hypnotherapist Rob Kelly, this programme is different to 90% of practicing hypnotherpists. In short, Jonny will completely change your whole belief system about smoking and PERCEIVED addiction and you’ll be well on the way to stopping smoking even before you closed your eyes and are happily resting on the couch. IT’S THAT GOOD!

The first 30 minutes of the session may seem like a relaxed chat. But that’s when your faulty belief system about smoking and addiction will be completely smashed to pieces. It’s more than a light bulb moment.

Once that new belief system is in place, the second half of the session is 30 minutes of powerful hypnotherapy to rewire your unconscious mind and you will open your eyes feeling fantastic and knowing you’ll be a proud non-smoker for good!

Anxiety and Phobias

Clinical Hypnotherapy (suggestion therapy) and Hypno-Analysis are both to treat anxiety and phobias and the therapy used is client focused and based on the severity of the symptoms.

What Is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Clinical Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses focused attention, guided relaxation, and positive suggestion to help people change unwanted thoughts, feelings, habits and behaviours. Unlike stage hypnosis, clinical hypnotherapy is a collaborative, evidence‑informed process used by trained practitioners to support emotional wellbeing.

People often seek hypnotherapy for:

  • Anxiety relief
  • Phobia treatment
  • Stress reduction
  • Confidence building
  • Habit change

Hypnotherapy works by helping the mind enter a calm, receptive state where new patterns can be learned more easily.

What Is Hypnoanalysis?

Hypnoanalysis is a deeper, insight‑focused form of hypnotherapy. While hypnotherapy often works on the symptoms, hypnoanalysis aims to uncover and resolve the root causes of emotional distress.

Hypnoanalysis may explore:

  • Underlying fears
  • Past emotional experiences
  • Subconscious beliefs
  • Triggers for anxiety or phobias

By identifying the emotional origin of a problem, hypnoanalysis can help release long‑held tension and create lasting change.

How Hypnotherapy Helps with Anxiety

Hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool for reducing anxiety because it works directly with the subconscious mind—the part responsible for automatic thoughts, emotional reactions, and stress responses.

Key benefits

  • Calms the nervous system — Guided relaxation reduces physical tension and overthinking.
  • Reframes negative thought patterns — Suggestions help replace fear‑based thinking with balanced, confident perspectives.
  • Builds emotional resilience — Clients learn tools to manage stress more effectively.
  • Reduces avoidance behaviours — Hypnosis supports gradual, comfortable exposure to previously stressful situations.

Many people report feeling calmer, more in control, and better able to cope with everyday challenges after a course of hypnotherapy sessions.

How Hypnoanalysis Helps with Phobias

Phobias often have a subconscious emotional origin, even when the person logically knows the fear is irrational. Hypnoanalysis helps uncover the moment or belief that created the fear response.

How it works

  • Identifies the root cause — Often a forgotten or misunderstood experience.
  • Releases emotional tension — The fear response loses its intensity.
  • Rebuilds confidence — Clients learn to respond calmly to previously triggering situations.
  • Creates new associations — The mind learns to feel safe instead of fearful.

Hypnoanalysis is particularly effective for long‑standing or severe phobias because it works at the emotional level where the fear was formed.

What to Expect in a Session

A typical hypnotherapy or hypnoanalysis session may include:

  • Initial consultation to understand your goals
  • Guided relaxation to help you enter a calm, focused state
  • Therapeutic suggestions tailored to your needs
  • Insight work (for hypnoanalysis) to explore deeper emotional patterns
  • Integration and reflection to help you apply changes in daily life

You remain aware, in control, and able to speak throughout the process.

Is Hypnotherapy Safe?

Yes. Clinical hypnotherapy is considered safe when delivered by a trained professional. It is non‑invasive, gentle, and suitable for most people. It can also complement other forms of emotional or psychological support.

If you’re experiencing severe anxiety or distress, it’s important to speak with a qualified mental‑health professional as well.

When to Consider Hypnotherapy or Hypnoanalysis

You may benefit from these approaches if you experience:

  • Persistent anxiety
  • Specific phobias
  • Panic responses
  • Stress‑related habits
  • Low confidence or self‑esteem

Jonny Wootton is one or only two hypnotherapists in West Yorkshire that is trained in Pure Hypnoanalysis. THis therapy was developed by Neil French in the 1970 and refined by Rob Kelly from the 1990s onwards.
